The city region of Ghent as a circular economy hub

Ghent is a real hub for the circular economy. And rightly so! Everywhere in the city, companies specialise in the recovery and optimal use of waste flows and materials.

On 19 November, you will take part in the Resource Recovery Tour, both in the city and in the port. The tour starts in the morning in the Technology Park with a presentation on the Resource Recovery Center Capture (CO2, plastic, water).

The projects Plasticity, Redesign, Durabuild and URBCON will also be discussed. In addition, you will get more information about an innovative project of the City of Ghent: Stapsteen naar een circulaire stad (Stepping Stone towards a circular city). This project demonstrates the use of Carbstone products in the city.

The morning ends with a visit to the P3 Lab and Labo Magnel. After lunch, the tour resumes to the port. During a visit to Arcelor Mittal’s Steelanol site, you will receive an explanation of the development of the Carbon Capture & Utilisation Hub: the declaration of intent of all partners, the study work and the policy of North Sea Port.

The operation of Smart Delta Sources and Biobased Europe Pilot Plant will also be discussed. After the tour, Sofie Bracke, alderman for Economy, Trade, Sport & Port, shall welcome the participants for a reception in Ghent City Hall.
